Dahlia Brue
Shop Owner

It took two and a half years of brainstorming and hard work to allow Idun to open it’s doors nine months ago. It is a shop that you visit for minimalistic but unique finds; and, without realizing, inspiration.  “There is a sense of comfort living here while still breeding creativity and opportunity. That is the most beautiful thing about Minneapolis and St.Paul and I tried to breath that into Idun.”

Minneapolis/St. Paul is a city full of intelligent, creative and interesting people. I think that’s why I was so confident Idun would thrive here. The people are what make any place worth living and visiting and we have some of the greatest individuals pushing limits and setting standards. I moved to Minneapolis/St. Paul 9 years ago for college. I immediately felt at home here which is why I never left. I loved the community, the food and the art. It’s small but mighty. That’s what gives it the allure and charm that a lot of cities strive for.  There is a sense of comfort living here while still breeding creativity and opportunity. That is the most beautiful thing about Minneapolis/St.Paul and I tried to breath that into Idun.

I first started thinking about the “idea” of Idun years ago out of a love for interesting designers and beautiful clothing. We brought progressive designers and quality brands to St. Paul and the response has been overwhelming! I worked on bringing it to life for 2.5 years. It was the support of my friends and other small businesses that made the challenge not as daunting. We have such a supportive community that loves seeing people succeed and benefit the city in which we live. Every great restaurant, artist or shop is making the city more enjoyable to live in and visit. It’s a great feeling running into friends and other small business owners at Tanpopo or Nina’s and sharing in that sense of community. There is a sense of unity that a lot of cities probably miss out on. We aren’t out to cut each other down, we are excited about building people up and creating opportunity. That is something that should not be taken for granted and we should be proud of.
